साँसों का है खेल सारा,

कुछ पल का है मेल सारा,

कब समय के गर्त में जाएँ खो,

कब बुझ जाए जलती लौ,

कब काल का ग्रास बन जाएँ,

कौन यह जाने , कौन बताए,

कैसी है यह प्रभु की माया,

जीवन है पल भर का साया,

कब कहाँ कैसे खो जाए,

कौन हमें बतलाने आए,

क्षणभंगुर जीवन, सब जानें,

फिर भी देह को सब कुछ मानें,

यही छलावा, यही है माया,

किस ने इसका भेद है पाया,

काया को माटी जो जाने,

परम तत्व को सब कुछ माने,

वही है जागृत, वही है ज्ञानी,

न वह मूरख, न अभिमानी!

जीवन नित नया,

बीत गया सो बीत गया,

बीती बात बिसारिए,

अब तो जीवन संवारिए,

जो आगे की ले सुध,

वही तो है प्रबुद्ध,

जो वर्तमान में जिए,

जीवन रस वह पिए,

जो आलिंगन करे हर पल का,

वही तो है नायक कल का,

जो जाने जीवन है यही एक पल,

वही चखे भाग्य का मीठा फल,

जो न भूत की गठरी ढोये,

जो बीते को न रोए,

वह जागृत है, नहीं है सुप्त,

वह स्वछंद है, वही है मुक्त,

वही जाने जीवन का सार,

उसके लिए खुले मुक्ति द्वार!

कोई तो है जो सितारों को करता है रौशन,

कोई तो है जो करता है भरन-पोषण,

कोई तो है जो बादलों में है गरजता,

कोई तो है जो ज़लज़ला बन है लरजता,

कोई तो है जो हवाओं में है बहता,

कोई तो है जो हमारे दर्द हो है सहता,

कोई तो है जो हमारी हंसी में है खनकता,

कोई तो है जो बन सपने आँखों में है चमकता,

कोई तो है जो अंधेरों को दूर है भगाता,

कोई तो है जो आशाओं के दीप है जलाता,

कोई तो है जो माँ बनकर करता है दुलार,

कोई तो है जो संकट में सुनता है पुकार,

कोई तो है जो पर्वतों की चोटियों पर है रहता,

कोई तो है जो अंतरात्मा बन बहुत कुछ है कहता,

कोई तो है जिसने रोते को है हँसाया,

वही तो है जो रोम-रोम में है समाया!

The universe to you is very kind

If you have not anyone maligned,

If with it you are aligned,

If your heart beats in sync with its,

If you are not fragmented into pieces and bits,

If you are in line with its immensity,

If to listen in to its pulsating beats you have the propensity,

If you can delve deep into its dark recesses,

If its eternal secrets your mind measures up to and processes.

If in consonance with it you learn to live,

It will grant your wishes and you its countless bounties give,

It will then willingly partner your evolutionary story,

And grant you its benediction and drape you in its transcendental glory,

Then your life will be rich beyond measure,

And every moment of it will you savour and treasure.

The universe is to you very kind

If you let go of the shackles of your mind,

If you do not let your ignorance bog you down and bind!

न और कोई चाह हो,

हृदय से हृदय मिले,

न हों शिकवे या गिले,

प्रेम का हो प्रवाह सरल,

भावनाएँ कोमल और तरल,

मानवता का प्रसार हो,

स्नेह सागर अपार हो,

वैमनस्य भाव को सब तजें,

चैन की मोहक बंसी बजे,

विषय-विकार सब तजें,

ईश्वर-तत्व को भजें,

चरित्र हो सर्वत्र सबल,

सद्भाव समभाव हों प्रबल,

मानव जाति का उत्थान हो,

Liberate yourself from greed,

Let love be your abiding creed,

Liberate yourself from every mad race,

Let life go on at its own sweet quiet pace,

Liberate yourself from hate,

Let deep compassion be your mate,

Liberate yourself from any hankering after power,

Let life snuggle up to you like a cool heavenly bower,

Liberate yourself from every constricting binary,

Wear oneness like a piece of exquisite finery,

Liberate yourself from every shoddy thought

As God never meant it to be your lot,

Liberate yourself from mental sloth

That hinders your evolution and growth,

Liberate yourself from the tentacles of lust

So that you live a life that is fair and just,

Liberate yourself from shameless promotion of the self

So that you remain untouched by the trappings of power and pelf,

Liberate yourself from every baseless fear

So that it does not your soul singe and sear,

प्रेम की हम अलख जगाएँ,

सह-मानव को गले लगाएँ,

सरल भाव से जीवन जिएँ,

सत्य-सुधा का रस पिएँ,

श्रेष्ठता की हर सीढ़ी चढ़ें,

न्याय मार्ग पर सतत बढ़ें,

पर सेवा को बनाएँ धर्म,

शुद्ध होंगे हमारे कर्म,

सोच बड़ी हो, सबल आत्मा,

तभी मिलेंगे परमात्मा,

तभी गा पाएँगे मुक्ति-गान,

तभी मिलेगा मोक्ष-दान,

कैसे बीती ज़िंदगी यह पता ही नहीं चला,

समझ नहीं आया यह कैसी है बला,

पकड़ना चाहा तो हाथों से फिसली,

जैसे कौंध कर लुप्त हो जाती बिजली,

जीना चाहा तो खड़े कर दिए नित नए व्यवधान,

जिनका न छोर पकड़ पाए, न मिला समाधान,

कभी लगे जैसे है कोई अंतरंग सहेली,

कभी यह बन जाए एक अबूझ पहेली,

कभी लगे रिमझिम बारिश की बूँदों की तरह सहज,

कभी लगे जैसे जी का जंजाल हो महज़,

कभी जब जगाई इसके नाम की अलख,

तो दिखलाई इसने अपने महात्म्य और विराटता की झलक,

कभी जब स्वार्थों के संकुचित दायरों में गए सिमट,

विषय-वासनाओं के नाग बनकर यह गई लिपट,

कभी प्रकाश पुंज तो कभी घनघोर अंधेरा

जिसका न दिखे कोई अंत, न हो सवेरा,

शायद ज़िंदगी वही है जो इसे हम बनाते,

यह हम पर है कि क्या इसकी बगिया हम सजाते,

या फिर उजाड़ते इसका भव्य उद्यान,

यह हम पर ही है कि बनेगी यह बोझ या वरदान!

Live a life that is full to the brim,

Don’t be deterred by things grim,

Why not blaze a trail

That inspires others without fail,

Be a beacon light to those around

When their inner demons them surround,

When the storms of life buffet you no end,

Stand tall and firm, don’t bend,

When you see someone in your vicinity mope,

Light for them the lamp of eternal hope,

Even if you have a brush with death,

Don’t let the adversities of life your spirit crush,

Whatever your trials, whatever your role,

Let nothing fragment you, remain whole,

Do not let the muck of life pull you down into the mire,

Don’t compromise your truth lest your conscience call you a liar,

Look misfortunes squarely in the eye,

Don’t let your fears kill you before you actually die,

Let your life be interwoven with such grace

That when you finally go, of remorse and regret there is no trace!

Mango is the king of fruit,

How all of us for it do root!

When the summer heat makes us frown,

In mango pleasures do we drown,

Its ambrosial flavours are something to die for,

Its succulence is something to vie for,

It is the buoy for one’s sagging soul,

It can make our truncated selves whole,

A mango down our gullet takes life to another level,

It makes our spirit with joy dance and revel,

The more torrid the summers, the more potent the required balm,

What can heal us more than a mango in our palm,

When its heady juice trickles down our cheeks,

All our gloom into an unspeakable joy it tweaks,

This heavenly fruit speaks of God’s infinite grace,

To it we can His boundless love for us trace!
