If you can look yourself squarely

in the eye,

In peace you will live and in peace die!

If on your conscience you have no weight,

As a good person you can yourself rate!

If of your actions you are proud,

Rest assured you will stand out in a crowd!

Dignity is the biggest blessing to seek,

But it is not for the spineless and the weak!

If you are truthful and can hold your head high,

If you life is not a walking lie,

If people and their feelings you have not trampled upon,

If not down the road of perdition you have gone,

If through the storms of life you have kept your dignity intact,

You are the blessed one and deserve true respect!

If you have allowed no one your self-respect to trample upon,

Believe me, a dignified mantle you don!

If on the side of dignity you yourself find,

Consider yourself as the chosen one to whom God is kind!

Dignity is more precious than all your material wealth,

Than it there can be no truer barometer of your inner health!

यह कौन है जो मौन खड़ी,

मुसीबतों से घिरी, मुश्किल में पड़ी!

यह कौन है जो शून्य में तकती,

ऐसा लगे जैसे कुछ कर नहीं सकती!

यह कौन है जिसे कोई कुछ न जाने,

और जिसका अस्तित्व कोई नहीं है माने!

यह कौन है जिसकी सिसकियाँ अंदर ही घुटतीं,

और जिसकी ख्वाहिशें रोज़ हैं लुटतीं,

यह कौन है जो अपनों के लिए मर मिटती,

फिर भी की जाती प्रताड़ित और है पिटती?

यह है हमारे जीवन की धुरी,

जीवन को दे गति जिस ओर भी है मुड़ी!

न देती केवल जीवन दान,हमारे जीवन को सम्मान,

अपितु करती भरन पोषण और प्रदान करती हमें संस्कार,

यह है परिवार का आधार, समाज की सूत्रधार,

मझदार में फँसी नाव को लगाती यह पार!

इसे भी चाहिए न केवल जीवनदान,

पर अपनी जगह, अपनी पहचान,

इसे भी चाहिए अपनी स्वतंत्रता,

क्यों यह माने किसी की परतंत्रता?

क्यों यह कुचले अपने अरमान,

क्यों यह माने अनुचित फ़रमान?,

क्यों न छुए ऊँचाइयों को

इंतज़ार करती उसका जो?

न्याय और मानवता की है यही माँग,

और देश दुनिया का भी इसी में कल्याण!

वही ले जाएगी हमें विश्व प्रेम और शांति की ओर

जिसका आज न कोई ठिकाना, न कोई ठौर !

वही करेगी विश्व कल्याण के सपने को साकार,

वही देगी एक सुंदर , सार्थक और सबल समाज को आकार !

प्यार से इक दूजे को मिलो,

और फूलों की तरह खिलो,

इक दूजे का एहतराम करो,

यूँ न बेवजह घुट घुट के मरो,

यूँ न बेशक़ीमत ज़िंदगी को करो ज़ाया,

न पड़ने दो इस पे इस पे अपनी खुदगर्जियों का साया,

अपनी वीरानियों से खुद को आज़ाद करो,

यूँ न बेमक़सद मौत से पहले मरो!

ज़िंदगी न मिलेगी दुबारा,

फिर क्यों नहीं है तुम्हें ये गवारा?

बड़ी मशक़्क़त के बाद पाया है जिसे,

जियो खुल कर प्यार और एतबार से इसे,

कौन जाने फिर किसी से कोई मिले या न मिले ?

फिर किस बात के शिकवे और गिले ?

We brood on what from our lives is missing,

And for it just go on God dissing!

When we go on committing follies at this rate,

We do nothing but seal our own fate!

The one thing missing from our life makes us so sore

That to happiness and peace we show the door!

Our flawed nature is such

That the abundance we have does not mean much,

To the missing tile syndrome we fall a prey,

Because of one missing tile the whole bright wall to us looks insipid and grey!

Thus, abundance into inadequacy we turn,

And disquiet and restlessness for ourselves earn!

This way our follies we compound,

And without any reason the theory of dissatisfaction propound!

Who is right?

The one who on truth has set his sight!

Who is wise?

The one who can to the occasion rise!

Who is brave?

The one who for truth can unwaveringly walk to his grave!

Who is refined?

The one who with sensitivity can the way to another’s heart find!

Who is alive?

The one who on the immense beauty of life does thrive!

Who is gracious?

The one who under all circumstances is sagacious!

Who is persistent?

The one whose forward movement on the road of life is consistent!

Who is reliable?

The one who will never for betrayal be liable!

Who is to be applauded?

The one who for the just and the right has always plodded!

Who is to be emulated?

The one who has always you to do good has stimulated!

Who is a seeker?

The one who has never let his quest to find truth grow weaker!

Who is a writer?

The one who jousts with thoughts and words and is in her own right a fighter!

Who is a reader?

The one who to the writer of enthusiasm is the feeder!

Who is fit to wear a crown?

The one who does not upon human foibles frown!

Though death comes to all, only some will life taste,

The rest will just bungle through and this opportunity waste!

Only a few will add life to years,

The rest will give in to misgivings and fears!

Only some will experience bliss divine,

The rest will just give way to sloth and be supine!

Only some will reach the stars,

The rest will be lost to petty bickerings and wars!

Only some will taste of life the nectar

The others will just be in the scheme of things a negligible factor!

Only some will set a blazing trail

While others around them will flounder and fail!

Only some will spread their fragrance and flourish,

Only some will their souls nurture and nourish

While others in mundane things be lost

And phantoms of no meaning host!

Only some will live a life of grace and poise

While others will be drowned in this world’s din and noise!

Only some will live life to the hilt

While others will fall by the wayside and wilt!

North or south, east or west,

This is our destiny manifest!

अल्लाह जाने, मौला जाने,

सब कुछ है वो जाने!

सब को अपनी दात वो देता,

किसी से कुछ वो न लेता,

कोई माने या न माने!

सब पर अपनी रहमत बरसाता,

सब को अपनी ज़ुबाँ में समझाता,

कोई जाने या न जाने!

पूरी कायनात में वो बसता,

ज़र्रे ज़र्रे में वो जँचता,

कोई माने या न माने!

सब ओर उसका नूर है फैला,

कभी न होता है वो मैला,

कोई जाने या न जाने !

बंजर को वो कर दे हरा,

मिटा देता वो हर ज़रा,

कोई माने या न माने!

अगर दिल को कर लें साफ़,

हम सब को वो करता माफ़,

कोई जाने या न जाने!

मुझ में रहता, तुझ में रहता,

ज़मीर के ज़रिए सब कुछ कहता,

कोई माने या न माने!

God does not you for your sins hate

As He is your ultimate mate!

But your sins do on your conscience weigh,

And can darken a perfectly bright day!

They are the albatross round your neck,

And can very well the peace of your mind wreck!

They can be the leaden weight on your soul

Which of your life couldn’t possibly have been the goal!

Your sins can corrode your entire being,

They can impair and distort your way of seeing!

The All-Merciful God does not punish you for any sin,

But you are undone by your own moral din!

Your ill deeds will not let you in peace rest,

They will make you in your own mortal house an unwelcome guest!

While this drama of relentless action and reaction plays out,

God will just watch from a distance no doubt

And like a doting father indulge your every folly

Because He is a good fellow jolly!

Living is not necessarily being alive,

Can you some meaning from the above statement derive?

Those merely living put themselves to shame,

Being alive is an entirely different ball game!

Being alive is embracing life with open eyes,

It is not deluding yourself with inaction and lies!

You are alive when you live it up,

And with the wise and the enlightened sup!

You are alive when you to the cosmic rhythms dance,

And in a moment can at eternity glance!

You are alive when of life’s endless possibilities you are aware,

And to tread upon uncharted paths you can dare!

You are alive when you are attuned to others’ suffering and pain,

And spend your life in an empathetic vein!

You are alive when all this is done,

And with the vast interplay of cosmic forces you feel one!

Get out of your comfort zone,

The mantle of a courageous person don!

Sticking to that zone will you nowhere get,

So for the new and the different your appetite whet!

Get out of the familiar and the comfortable where you are cocooned,

Otherwise in stagnation you will remain marooned!

Get out and grapple with the unfamiliar and the new,

And the rewards will be many, not a few!

Shed your sloth and timidity and explore vistas new,

There is so much to be done which is due!

The world belongs to those who venture out of the known and the old,

They are the ones who will hit the pot of gold!

Explore in the road of life every new bend,

And more wisdom to yourself lend!

To those who stepped out of their comfort zones we owe a lot

Because from them a wealth of precious new knowledge we have got!

From comfort zones come no great things,

So take it upon yourself to give your quest ever new wings!
