The dumbing down of our conscience,

Where will it us lead?

It will only lead us to commit black deed upon black deed!

A benumbed conscience is a dangerous thing,

It lets our devilish tendencies take wing!

It makes us fall and fall from grace,

It leaves of our humanity not even the slightest trace!

Everyday it makes us of degradation new depths plumb,

It leaves us morally dumb and our sensibility numb!

When we grow oblivious to all distinctions of wrong and right,

And our good sense all but takes flight,

Take it as the beginning of the end,

And prayers to the Almighty above send

To give us the good sense to step back from the brink

And deep from the fountain of truth drink

To enable us to nail our own miserable wretched lies,

And resuscitate our conscience which before us bit by bit dies!

Only therein lies our redemption as a race,

And our slow return to a life of righteousness and grace!

Why intricate webs of attachment do we weave?

Why to anything try to cling

When everything has to go and take wing?

And invite needless heartaches and longings?

Empty-handed we come and we go empty-handed,

Has anyone in the other world with worldly possessions landed?

As for of the filthy lucre the lure,

Only wisdom and right thinking can you of it cure!

With nothing really at stake,

why not travel through life light

By shedding all false notions of power and might?

Walk light in body and mind and in soul light,

Why the bullet of fiendish temptations bite

When they are not to anything going to lead?

Why can’t we open our inner eye and the writing on the wall read?

ग़लतफ़हमियों के क़िस्से कितने दिलचस्प हैं,

हर ईंट यह सोचती है कि दीवार मुझ पर टिकी है!

ख़ुदा सोचता है वह कायनात को चला रहा है,

इंसान सोचता है कि वह ख़ुदा को चला रहा है!

मैं सोचता हूँ कि मैं हूँ संसार का केंद्र बिंदु,

तुम सोचते हो कि तुम हो सप्त सिंधु!

दिल सोचता है कि उससे बड़ा कोई नहीं,

दिमाग़ सोचे कि उसके बिना खड़ा कोई नहीं!

हाड़ मांस का पुतला सोचे कि वह दुनिया को है नचाए,

अपने क्षणभंगुर वर्चस्व का गली गली में शोर है मचाए!

गुरु सोचे कि वह शिष्य को दिशा दिखाए,

शिष्य सोचे कि वह गुरु की गरिमा को है बढ़ाए!

नेता सोचें वे समाज के हैं नायक,

और अभिनेता माने खुद को सदी के महानायक!

माँ सोचे कि वह परिवार को है चलाए,

पिता है कि अपना लोहा मनवाए!

माँ बाप सोचें कि वे हैं बच्चों के जीवन दाता,

बच्चे मानें खुद को अपने भाग्य के विधाता!

ख़ुशफ़हमियों की यूँ ही बिछी रहे बिसात,

अहम अपना पासा फेंके और दे दे सबको मात!

इसी से बनते ग़लतफ़हमियों के न ख़त्म होने वाले क़िस्से,

और सिर्फ़ और सिर्फ़ छलावा ही आता इंसान के हिस्से!

यह संसार है एक सपना,

क्षणभंगुर है जो भी लगे अपना!

ज़िंदगी रेत सी हाथों में से छनती जाती

पर यह बात सुनने में है किसको भाती?

न जाने यह बुलबुला कब फूट जाए,

साँसों की लड़ी कब टूट जाए,

कब जीवन की गाड़ी अपने आख़िरी पड़ाव पर रुक जाए,

ज़िंदगी मौत के आगे झुक जाए,

कब इस सुबह की हो जाए शाम,

जो कुछ ख़ास नहीं, रोज़ होने वाली है बात आम!

सारी ज़िंदगी हम निजी अमरत्व के झूठ को पकड़ बैठे रहते,

सच जानते हैं पर खुद को भी नहीं कहते,

यह छलावा लगे हमें प्यारा कि हम तो यूँ ही जिए जाएँगे,

ज़िंदगी के कशिश भरे जाम यूँ ही पिए जाएँगे!

क्यों करते रहते हैं हम ऐसा,

क्यों सच को नहीं देखते वह है जैसा?

क्योंकि जानते हैं कि ज़िंदगी के बाद है एक शाश्वत मौन,

फिर किस लम्बे सफ़र पर निकलना है यह जाने कौन?

फिर कोई सफ़र है भी या नहीं, यह कौन जाने?

यह है तो एक गहरा राज़, कोई माने या न माने!

कौन सुलझा पाया है ये उलझे हुए ताने बाने?

आसान नहीं, मुश्किल है इस ज़माने में जीना,

कहाँ मुमकिन है चाक दामन को सीना!

अपनी रूह पे लगे पैबंद कैसे छुपाएँ,

रोते सिसकते हुए मन को कैसे हसाएँ?

कैसे बदलें इस वक्त की बेनूरी को नूर में,

कैसे पाएँ सकूँ झूठ मूठ के सरूर में?

कैसे बंजर ज़मीन पर उगाएँ प्यार की फसल,

कैसे झूठे नक़ली इंसानों में ढूँढें कुछ असल?

कैसे बेज़ारी के आलम में दिलाएँ किसी को भरोसा,

कैसे लौटा लाएँ उस ईमान को जिसे इस बेमुरव्वत दौर ने है खोंसा?

बिन पेंदे के लोटों की तरह हो गये हैं लोग,

मौक़ा परस्ती का लग गया है सब को रोग!

लालच और हवस की आग में दुनिया हो रही है राख,

न बचा किसी का ईमान, न रही है साख!

वहशीपन के इस जंगल में आओ ढूँढें कोई रास्ता,

आओ कुछ तो करें तुम्हें ख़ुदा का है वास्ता!

चलो क्षितिज के उस पार,

जहां हो स्नेह और शांति अपार,

जहां न हो कोई विषम अभाव,

जहां न हो बाहुबलियों का दुष्प्रभाव,

जहां न हों लोग न्याय के लिए सिसकते,

जहां न हों भूखे बच्चे रोटी के लिए बिलखते,

जहां न हो अशोभनीय बंदर बाँट और खींचा तानी,

जहां दूध का दूध हो और पानी का पानी,

जहां चारों ओर विचरते हों शांति दूत,

जहां स्वाभिमान से जीते हों इस सृष्टि के पूत,

जहां इंसान इंसान से न रखता हो वैर,

जहां सब हों अपने, कोई न हो ग़ैर,

जहां न हो ज़ोर ज़बरदस्ती, न व्यभिचार,

जहां व्याप्त हो हर ओर सदबुद्धि , सुविचार,

जहां बहती हो सद्भाव और प्रेम की नदी,

जहां हर पल न लगे जैसे एक सदी,

जहां अहंकार न करता हो तांडव नृत्य,

जहां हर दिन न होते हों बर्बर जघन्य कृत्य,

जहां विषय वासनाएँ न सर चढ़ कर बोलें,

जहां हर कोई हर चीज़ को स्वार्थ के तराज़ू पे न तोले,

जहां अवसर हों, अवसरवादिता न हो,

ऐसी दुनिया सब को प्यारी लगे जो,

जहां हर कोई चैन से है जिए,

जहां हर कोई आनंद का सोम है पिए,

जहां सब को बांधती हो रचनात्मकता की डोर,

जहां हर कोई बढ़ जाए पूर्णता की ओर,

चलो क्षितिज के उस पार,

जहां उत्कृष्ट स्वपन होते हों साकार!

Your responsibility to grow always comes first!

Nothing should come in the way of your blooming,

Let no stone be left unturned for your inner grooming!

God sent you into this world to blossom and flower,

Do that and He will upon you His grace shower!

Reach out to the possibilities immense,

Which of a happy life are the essence!

Let no impediment stop you in your tracks

Lest there appear in your psyche irreparable cracks!

The temple bell, that somewhere nearby rings,

Is asking you to spread out your wings,

And fly to a destination lofty and high,

Why just sit haplessly fiddling your thumbs and then meaninglessly die?

You were born to rise and on behalf of truth act,

Take it as given and as a sacred fact!

Do not go astray and with the devil sup

Because that will only fill with sorrow your mortal cup!

Never forget with the heavens your sacred compact,

Let no vile temptation from your integrity detract!

Bloom you must,

हर किसी से प्यार कर,

न अस्मतों पे वार कर,

हर किसी को दे सहारा,

ख़ुदगर्ज़ी हो न तुझे गवारा !

ख़ुदा की रहमत सब के लिए माँग,

न किसी को बेवजह सूली पे टांग,

तेरी वजह से हो सबका मेल,

नफ़रतों का ख़ौफ़नाक खेल तूँ कभी न खेल,

सारी कायनात से तूँ प्यार कर,

उस प्यार का जी भर इज़हार कर,

न किसी को समझ अपने से जुदा,

हर एक में बसता है वही एक ख़ुदा!

रख हर क़ीमत पर अपने ज़मीर को ज़िंदा,

बिन ज़मीर इंसान जैसे पर कटा परिंदा!

क़ायम रहेगा ग़र तूँ इंसानी कदरों पे,

वो दो जहां का मालिक नवाज़ेगा तुझे अपनी रहमतों से!

उस रहमत का तूँ इस्तक़बाल कर,

न हो बेज़ार तूँ, अपने अख़लाक़ पे मान कर!

ज़माने की कशिश कर देगी तुझे रेशा रेशा,

दोनों हाथ से बटोरने को न बना अपना पेशा,

अपने अंदर की खुदाई का तूँ एहतराम कर,

दोनों हाथों से दे तूँ, हर किसी को प्यार कर!
