What Will Be, Will Be

Stray thoughts on the end of India’s dream run in the ODI World Cup Campaign, 2023

You win some, you lose some,

Don’t be a bad loser and a bum,

Life is an interplay of shadow and light,

Let us get this simple straight fact right,

Every dream run has eventually to end,

To this truth the weight of your understanding lend,

Can’t we see that what will be, will be,

So why on succeeding give way to unbridled glee,

And why on losing sink into untamed despair

When every broken thing is open to rejuvenation and repair?

Life calls upon us to take highs and lows in our stride,

They are our constant companions in this world big and wide,

When you are down, chin up and smile,

Defeat will transform into victory in a short while,

Be a stoic witness to the cosmic play of sun and cloud,

Be even of temper and of this evenness be proud!

  1. Some uplifment of dismal spririts was needed after the loss of the long-awaited World Cup, sir…ur composition provides some light in gloom, some succour, some hope… ‘Sthitaprajna’, stoicism is the lesson if we wish to move forward with Spring in Steps, dream in gaze!
    Nice poem!👌👍

    1. Thanks for responding so well to the composition, Manjula Ma’m! As the cosmic drama unfolds, detached observance and acceptance is the key. We have our own wishes and desires while life goes by its own logic. What will be, will be.
