As life slips through our fingers
And puts us through its various wringers,
We wonder which way will it wend
And where, Oh where!, will it all end.
But then the end is not ours for the asking,
The secret lies curled up with the gods in heaven basking,
It hangs tantalisingly somewhere up in the air,
It just won’t before us itself bare.
So from day to day with us the enigma walks,
In undecipherable language to us it talks
Till one day into our end do we unwittingly barge
As it stands before us looming large.
While with screaming protest our mind swarms,
It carries our unwilling souls into its arms
To a mysterious land where all is milk and honey,
I wonder why to me it sounds so delusional and so very funny!
