कहाँ चला गया वो ज़माना,
जब हर कोई था जाना पहचाना,
जहां प्यार की तरंगें बहती थीं,
जहां दिल में इंसानियत रहती थी,
जहां थोड़े में थे सब राज़ी,
नहीं था कोई बेवजह पाजी,
जहां भाई भाई को प्यारा था
उसकी आँखों का दुलारा था,
जहां बड़ों को छोटों का सहारा था,
कोई बड़ा-बूढ़ा न बेबसी का मारा था,
जहां दोस्त दोस्त का थे रखते मान,
एक दूसरे पर थे छिड़कते जान,
नीला अंबर, निर्मल पानी,
कोई न देखता लाभ और हानि,
कहाँ गए वे निर्मल मन,
कहाँ गए वे सरल जन,
किसने फ़िज़ाओं में ज़हर घोला है,
पैसे से सब कुछ तोला है,
यह कैसा ख़ुदपरस्ती का मेला है,
किस पागलपन का रेला है,
कहाँ खो गए प्यार के गीत,
कहाँ गया वह मधुर संगीत,
साँस-साँस को हो गए मोहताज़,
यह कैसी रिवायत, कैसा रिवाज़,
यह किस तरक़्क़ी का दौर है,
क्या यह नहीं काबिल-ए-गौर है?

Very well said. This is an era of self before others. Every body is in a mad race of accumulation of material things at the cost of values, emotions and relationships, with devastating and destructive effect on the individuals and the very fibre of the society.

Telling commentary on dismal modern times! It takes a sensitive soul to be able to express what is going wrong in the world , with humanity at large. But not to lose our innate goodness… lotus in filth😊so to speak!
