While Your Birthday You Celebrate

While your birthday you celebrate,

Be mindful that your life you need to recalibrate!

What has got derailed you need to get back on track,

There are several exams of life you still need to crack,

There is so much wisdom that you still lack,

A punch or two in life you still have to pack,

There are still more challenging parts you have to chin up to play,

You have to negotiate more moral areas that are grey,

You have to get out of the mental fog of your own making,

You have to pick up the fruit that is yours for the taking,

You have to thank God for each and every blessing,

You have to learn to accept the truth without any dressing,

You have to get out of the maze of your wanton lies

Whatever the cost and whatever the price,

You have to do justice to the weak and the meek,

There are many from whom forgiveness you need to seek,

The wounds you have inflicted you need to heal,

And apply salve on the hearts to which you have given a rough deal,

Above all, there is the slate of your life you need to wipe clean

And on it write the nuggets of wisdom you have been able to glean,

You have to transcend all the inner clutter and noise,

And learn to negotiate the ocean of life with elan and poise!

While your birthday you celebrate,

Be mindful that your life you need to recalibrate!
