Knock knock at the door!
Who is it?
It is death calling!
Why are you to avoid me over each other falling?
Why don’t you see I am your friend best,
Always at your service to give you the much wanted rest!
Why upon seeing me do you grow pale?
Since you came into this world, I have been with you without fail,
Hovering like your shadow in the background
While you let the worldly things and pleasures you surround!
Immersed in this world, you might have forgotten me
But I am always there for everyone to see!
While left, right and centre, people around you this world leave,
You around yourself an illusory web of immortality vainly try to weave,
Forgetting that even the high and the mighty have not escaped my inevitable embrace!
So accept my presence with calmness and grace!
How so much my patience you may test,
I will be there to finally lay your weary mind and body to rest!
I will be there to put you through your final paces
When you have run all your life’s wearying and hurtful races!
I will be there to sound the final bugle,
However you try to dodge me and against me struggle!
Make peace with me as I am only of life the other side,
Let me ever so gently you to the end of your journey guide
So that you can restfully say goodbye to all that you hold dear,
And step into the unknown without any foreboding or fear!
