Nature has given us a run for our money,
We are all groping in the dark for a patch bright and sunny!
To us it might sound so unyielding and rude,
But this time nature does not seem to be in a forgiving mood!
By our sheer folly we have so done her in
That this bout she won’t let us win!
We thought that we were the masters of all that we saw,
We in our vainglory such an invincible picture of ourselves did
draw,
That she had to deal to our insufferable pride this severe blow
So that into our dense mind some fresh air of good sense could flow!
High time we reconsidered our callous and short-sighted stance
And got out of Nature’s way to once again let it bloom and dance!
In its regeneration does our salvation lie,
Let us seek its forgiveness if we do not want to gasping for breath die!
