As Life Unfolds Its Fascinating Story

As life unfolds its fascinating story,

As I see it bathed in all its glory,

As I soak in its mystique and its power,

As I see it all its benedictions upon me shower,

As I set my mind to its fabulous nebulousness,

As its twists and turns stretch my credulousness,

As I endeavour and strive with it to flow,

As I take on my chin its every blow,

As I try to open its every stubborn knot,

As all this effort eventually gets my goat,

I wonder if it is not better to rein in my intellectual pride,

And take life as it comes into my stride,

I wonder if it is not better to let life be,

Since I don’t have a seer’s eyes through it to see,

And let life take me wherever it deems fit,

And bow before its larger plan and writ,

Let me count my blessings and make with life peace,

Ler me remain unruffled when with its trials it does me tease!
