फ़िज़ा में घुला ज़हर,
कुदरत ने बरसाया क़हर,
साँस-साँस को हुए मोहताज,
जो खुद को समझें सरताज,
धुएँ और गर्द के जिन्न खड़े मुँह बायें,
कुछ समझ न आए हम कहाँ जाएँ,
यह हमारा ही तो किया-कराया है,
कुदरत को हमने समझा पराया है,
खुद को हमने जाना आला,
खुद ही तो बुना अपनी बर्बादी का जाला,
हमने ही तो कुदरत से खेला,
लो आया अब बर्बादी का रेला,
इससे बच के कहाँ जाएँगे,
अपनी करनी का फल तो ज़रूर पाएँगे,
अपने किए पे आज भी हम कहाँ पशेमान हैं,
कायनात पर फ़तह पाने का आज भी अरमान हैं,
हमारा अहम ही हमें ले डूबा है,
अब ख़ुदा भी हमसे ऊबा है,
अब रब ने भी हमसे मुँह मोड़ लिया है,
हाल पे अपने उसने हमें छोड़ दिया है,
जब अपनी ग़लतियों से न लें हम कोई सीख,
तो क्यों कर मिले हमें रहम की भीख,
लगता है दुश्वारियाँ यूँ ही बढ़ती जाएँगी,
आने वाली नस्लें हमें खतावार पाएँगी,
यह बात नाउम्मीदी की हमारी आपसी है,
पर लगता नहीं कि अब जल्द कोई वापसी है,
जितना आगे निकल जाएँगे, मुश्किल होगी उतनी ही वापसी,
इसे समझना भी है लाज़िम, यह जो बात है हमारी आपसी!

सर भौतिकतावाद की हवस का परिणाम हमारे सामने है ये हवाओं में घुलता जहर जो हम सभी को आज सांस भी नहीं लेने दे रहा , आपने पर्यावरण और मानव जीवन पर उसके प्रभाव का बेहतरीन चित्रण किया है |
कभी शहरयार की लिखी हुई नज़्म “सीने में जलन आंखों में तूफ़ां से क्यों है , इस शहर में हर शख्स परेशां से क्यों है” की विषयवस्तु वर्तमान में इतनी वस्तुतः हो जाएगी हमने सोचा नहीं था |

बहुत सही लिखा है , सर। दम घुटने लगा है अब तो। प्रकृति भी नाराज़ है जैसे । सुंदर सटीक कविता है। उत्तम भावभिव्यक्ति।

“Sooner or later, we lay waste our powers , getting and spending,
but no time to stand and stare…
I wish I had been a pagan suckled in the creed outworn”
We r paying a heavy cost for our materialism … now every breath is at stake!
High time to wake up and rectify our mistakes! Ur poem rings a warning bell!

A grim but an important reminder! On a daily basis, we are abusing the nature through deforestation, pollution, various emissions and wars. Due to irresponsible human action, we have lost millions of species on this earth. It is high time we acted in a more serious manner to arrest this irreversible damage that we have caused to the nature and in turn to ourselves.
