Books are friends warm and old,
They are indubitably worth their weight in gold!
They wave their magic wands,
They transport to you to far away exciting lands,
Llike nothing else do they your spirit uplift,
Their rewards are substantial and swift!
To the glowing paths of wisdom do they you beckon,
With their wealth of knowledge they make you reckon!
They are like glow worms in the dark,
On fabulous journeys they make you embark!
Ever new vistas they before you unfold,
They inspire you to live a life wholesome and bold!
They help open your inner eye,
There is hardly any companion that with them can vie!
The insights of great minds they offer you on a platter,
They are the receptacles of an amazing treasure of grey matter!
Those who holds books dear,
A thinking hat do they wear,
Those who themselves with books surround,
Their beings become certainly rich and profound!
Our present day disconnect with books will cost us dear,
This is an outcome we should certainly fear!
